The straight man

So, what did you do this weekend?
I went to the movies.
Yeah? What did you see?
Saw III.
Wow! That's a lot of movies.
No, Saw III.
Ok . . . which ones did you see?
No, Saw III.
Yeah, I know that. What are their names?
Saw III!
I get it already! What are their names?
I just told you.
That's the name?
No, Saw III!

Fun with . . .

Do you know that if you take eraser shavings and squish them together in time you will get putty?
Amazing!

I've just finished season two of 24.
I know, I'm behind. I believe that 24 and Lost are two of the best shows on televsion.
And House. Three of the best shows on television are 24, Lost and House.
I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.

"This could hurt me in the long run."

Unsportsman like conduct

A bunch of thugs.

That's the best way to describe the University of Miami football team.
They have a player on their roster that has been arrested 11 times.
11 times.
Ony on the U.M. football team can a criminal have a chance at a career.
Yes, Florida International University, the other team involved is just as guilty, but U.M. took things to a new low-because they were proud of it.
Shame on the University of Miami.

"Stop this charade right now!"

Philadelphia

Philadelphia, by Neil Young is a hauntingly beautiful song. I know that Bruce Springsteen's equally good track from the movie of the same name won the Oscar, but it should have gone to Mr. Young that year. To me, the song conveys all the feelings of the movie. Every time I listen to it, it makes me think of Tom Hank's character.
Music does play a large part in the film. Besides the songs by Springsteen and Young, there is a very pwerful scene with Hanks and Denzel Washington's character with opera music playing in the background.
If you haven't seen Philadelphia, or haven't seen it in awhile, you should check it out.

"Do you think he knows?"

How could this happen?

With all the talent they have, how could this happen?
With all the money they have, how could this happen?
Will the Yankees losing in the First roUnd of the playoffs send G.S. over the edge?
Is anybody's job safe?
It's sad really.
ACtually, it's pathetic(and there's a word I would really liKe to INsert before pathetic, but this is a family bloG).
Read between the lines Yankees.
You have let yourself down.
You have let your fans down.
You've let the kids down.
That's something that is not acceptable.

"Get me whoever is in charge . . . now!"

Booze + pageboys= rehab

It seems like the solution to everyone's problem now is rehab.
Gotta drinking problem? Go to rehab.
Like to slur a religious group? Go to rehab.
Get off sending sexually suggestive e-mails to under-age boys? Go to rehab.
I still haven't figured out how going to rehab helps the last problem.
For a lot of people rehab does help.
For celebrities and disgraced politicians, it's just a hiding place.

"But it is what you asked for."

Bill vs. the Nuge

Say what you will about his politics, but rocker/conservative radio host Ted Nugent has a cool nickname. What brought me to this conclusion?
A song off the Beastie Boys album Check Your Head called The Biz vs. the Nuge. Actually, it's not really a song. It's Biz Markie singing in his usual off key style about the Beastie Boys, with a Ted Nugent riff in the background. It probably lasts about 30 seconds, but anybody who's heard the album knows it stands out.
Just like the nickname-The Nuge. It rolls off the tongue doesn't it?
It makes my nickname seem very bland in comparison-Bill.
Perhaps I need to think of a nickname change.
Cat Scratch Fever . . .

"This is not what I had in mind."

Welcome to off-kilter

This is my second blog.
I write another one about my life in Korea.
Off-kilter is for those subjects that don't really fit onto my other blog.

Enjoy.
